General Tools strives to provide all customers with everyday tools that make DIY easier.

If you are not satisfied with your recent General Tools Store purchase, please fill out our RETURN FORM.

Most new unused merchandise can be refunded or exchanged with proof of purchase within 30 days from the date of purchase for a full refund or replacement. Valid online order number is required. General Tools will ONLY accept returns from purchases made on store.generaltools.com.

  • Shipping & handling charges are nonrefundable.
  • Some policy exceptions exist, please see the policy exceptions selection below.

Obtaining An Rma- (Return Merchandise Authorization- a number that needs to be included with your return to identify your order)

After filling out our ONLINE FORM you will be contacted by our customer service department within 24-48 business hours with an RMA. At this time, you will be approved to ship the product back to General Tools.

How To Return

  • Print your RETURN FORM (emailed from our Customer Service Department) with RMA and place in box with item (s). This printed return form with RMA is required to process your return.This emailed form will have all your contact information to identify your return. YOU MUST INCLUDE PRINTED EMAIL RETURN FORM INSIDE THE BOX.
  • Place the item in a sturdy shipping package, without any other barcodes or other company labels.
  • Include only the items that were approved to be returned.
  • Include all original packing materials, manuals & accessories. (May result in a deduction of refund amount if not included).
  • Ship with your carrier of choice, make sure to track you package to ensure delivery to General Tools. General Tools is not responsible for any products lost in transit.
Returns will be processed within 7-10 business days. With credit card refund processing, your return should take around 12 business days from the date that we receive the return in our warehouse.

Return Without Rma

All returns without an RMA will be charged a 20% re-stocking fee. If then item(s) is damaged, they will be returned to sender at their expense.

Any items returned that were not purchased from store.generaltools.com, if possible, you will be contacted & offered the option to ship back to you for a fee or after 30days the merchandised will be destroyed on site.If you think that you returned an item without an RMA or that was not purchased from store.generaltools.com, contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-697-8665.

Funds Returned

General Tools will process all approved refunds within 24-48 hours (after your return has been processed & during business days), once processed by General Tools, your funds will be released by your bank to you within 72 hours, they may show up pending prior. Please note that funds can only be returned to the card that was used for the transaction. If you no longer have the card that was used, a store credit will be issued.

Policy Exceptions

CLEARANCE items are marked and sold for final sale. These items will not qualify for a refund, exchange or online shop credit.

GIFT CARDS cannot be returned for any reason.

DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS have a limited lifetime warranty on TOOLS and a 1-year limited warranty on INSTRUMENTS. Images may be requested to better assist a timely resolve on your claim. See WARRANTY POLICY below.

Warranty Policy

General warrants its instruments and accessories, power tools, and digital tool products against defects in material or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated on the packaging, manual, and/or marketing materials. General warrants its non-digital and non-powered products against defects in material or workmanship on a limited lifetime term.

General will replace or repair the defective unit, at its option, subject to verification of the defect.

Some consumable products (including, but not limited to shear blades and rubber pads) are sold separately and will wear naturally with normal use. These products are not covered under the above warranties, unless found to be defective in workmanship or material before use.

This warranty does not apply to defects resulting from abuse, neglect, accident, unauthorized repair, alteration, or unreasonable use of the product. It also does not cover products purchased from unauthorized distributors. A proof of purchase must accompany each warranty claim.

Any implied warranties arising from the sale of a General product, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the above. General shall not be liable for loss of use of the product or other incidental or consequential damages, expenses, or economic loss, or for any claim of such damage, expenses, or economic loss.

State laws vary. The above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
